Today - You are ONE MONTH OLD!

Aubrey
Today you are one month old! Where has the time gone?

You are much more alert with each passing day which means we get more time to interact with you! Granted, you are still sleeping a lot, but that's what you're supposed to do! You're starting to get little rolls on your arms and legs - so I think it's safe to say that you're eating well. You spit up a good amount, which has caused some concern on Mommy's part, but with every doctor's visit, it is confirmed that you are steadily gaining weight - so the worry is unnecessary! We just keep extra clothes and bibs nearby because we are changing you frequently! You are still nursing every 2-3 hours, sometimes every hour, but I think that is attributed to a growth spurt that you are/were going through. You are sleeping pretty well at night. I usually stay up until your 11/midnight feeding and then you wake again around 3/4am, and not again until 7/8am - making it only one time that I have to nurse you in the middle of the night. I think you're nearing an end to the newborn size diapers, although I'm hoping we're able to make use of all of the diapers that have been gifted to us in the newborn size. We've only purchased one pack of diapers in the last month, which is pretty impressive. You've got some baby acne going on, but that is to be expected with all the hormones that you were subjected to while in my womb. It will take time to work out the impurities and all we can do is sit back and admire your beautiful face while it's worked out! You like to kick your feet and move your legs and arms, sometimes making it hard when it comes to changing your diaper! We had your first diaper blowout yesterday where poop went all over your back and even got on your arm. So we had to give you a bath, which was okay b/c you needed one anyway! we also experienced another poop incident in the middle of the night when Daddy was changing your diaper. You like to wait until Daddy has a new diaper under you and then pee before he can finish putting the diaper on. So, you did your thing and Daddy was getting a new diaper ready and then you shot poop right out your little bum and it got all over the place - changing pad, dresser - EVERYWHERE. It was an experience - but we just cleaned it up! Fortunately we haven't had another situation like that!

Nonna Jo has been staying with us for most of the time since your birth and has been a big help. Daddy got a job and had his first week at work last week, leaving Mommy home alone with you for a few days. With the holidays, he hasn't had to work a full week just yet so it has been nice having him home to help with you. The kitties haven't been as curious as I thought they would be. Raja runs when you cry and Reese could really care less. That is a good thing!

You are growing so fast right before our eyes and I can't wait (but really I can) to see what the next month brings us!

I love you my dear Aubrey!

Love,
Mama

A little snippet of a smile...

I know this isn't responsive but rather it's reflexive, but either way, it's cute. Thanks Clair for capturing the cuteness!

Baby Showers #4 & #5

Last week, some of the admins at work and a few other co-workers held a shower for me. It was so sweet of them to want to shower me and BGB and we were given, yet again, some great stuff for baby girl. We had pizza and yummy cupcakes from a place in Raleigh called Gigi's. It was lovely.

Then this past Friday, a few of the ladies from our lighting group at work threw a little shower for me after work, complete with a diaper cake and more cupcakes!! Of course more gifts ensued and of those gifts we got the sweetest handmade blanket, hats and booties for baby girl. I can't wait to wrap her up in it!

To think I was only planning on having 1 big shower and I ended up having 5 (some small but showers none-the-less). I've said it before and I'll say it again - I have such great family and friends!

We're in the final countdown here - 3 weeks to go. It's amazing to think that 3 weeks from today, we will have a baby girl in our arms!

Belly Itch - October 21, 2011

Dear Baby Girl Baum
You have camped out right up front this whole pregnancy and therefore my belly is STRETCHING AND ITCHING and let's not talk about the stretch mark craziness that is going on. But do you know what? It is ALL WORTH IT. I cannot wait to meet you - but really, I can, b/c I don't want you to come too early...feel free to make your way down south on your own the last week of November! That way we don't have to rely on meds to bring you into this world against your own will.

Daddy and I got to see your sweet face on 10/20 and check your growth. You even gave us a little smile. You're measuring about 1 week ahead (34 weeks) and it's estimated that you weigh about 4 lbs, 15 oz. (a whole 3 lbs more than I did when I was born).

We are still preparing for your arrival in 6 weeks or less. So hard to believe we will meet you so soon!

xoxo sweet child!

A Piece of the Nursery

Steve found this "Family Rules" canvas in TJ Maxx to hang in the nursery. I thought of adding some ribbon and Steve thought of the idea to buy a knob, paint it white and screw it into the wall. Steve assembled everything and up on the wall it went - and I LOVE it. It's been SO LONG since I've blogged that now our nursery is complete. Once we have everything put away, I will post some pictures!
