Bloat Mania

I'm struggling terribly with horrible bloat. To the point where my stomach gets so big and hard and it's sometimes painful...like shooting pains in my stomach. It's like I have a beer gut - and I'm not even drinking. I need to drink more water - I know that is part of it. Water is just so bland. so blah.

And I'm having a hard time eating - finding anything that tastes good, that doesn't make my stomach turn. I'm snacking throughout the day to curb nausea - some days are better than others. Steve made cheeseburgers and wild rice last night - I couldn't eat it. I felt so bad. This is hard for him too. I'm indecisive with food as it is...add to that small problem my dislike of just about everything and it makes it hard for the both of us. I don't really have any cravings. I wish I did. Steve is trying to so hard to make suggestions and everything he suggests, I shoot down. No interest.

I'm looking forward to going to the doctor on Thursday to see if there is any type of relief I can get. I'm going to really focus on more water intake and maybe buy some prunes. I've been reading about natural remedies - adding things to my diet that help (and don't contribute to my problem)...but actually incorporating those things in my diet have yet to happen.

I don't want/enjoy this discomfort though (i mean, who would?) and I hope, I really hope, I don't have to struggle with this for the length of the pregnancy. It is so uncomfortable.

Prego with #3

My group of friends from college just found out a 2nd friend of ours is prego with her 3rd - due Nov. 29th (she has 2 girls - I know they're hoping for a boy). She started going to my old OB and loves them. I'm so happy and excited for her.

We found out a few weeks ago that another friend from college, Betsy, is expecting her third as well - a BOY (she has 2 girls)...due in August.

So there are currently 3 prego friends from college (including me of course) and hopefully a few more will hop on this train, as we have a few others who are trying to concieve now. SO fun!

And what's even more fun - Kory and I are only 2 weeks apart!!

This Is Me

6 weeks!

Saturday, Baby Baum hit 6 weeks. BB is the size of a pea (although babycenter.com says BB is the size of a lentil, I like pea better). The heart is beating (twice as fast as mine) and facial features are forming!

I swear when I go into my doc appointment on May 5th, this baby better be measuring on track (around 8 weeks, 5 days). Last time baby was measuring smaller then what I was calculating and thinking back, I figure there must have been a problem even that early on. But we did see the heartbeat on the monitor and it was strong. So only God knows.

Have I mentioned that I had to find a new OB practice? Probably, but I'll mention it again. Yeah - my insurance doesn't cover delivery anymore at the hospital where my doctor was affiliated, so I will be checking out a new practice in Durham - a referral from a friend. Insurance contracts were renegotiated and an agreement couldn't be made - so I'm bummed b/c I really liked my doctor, but this new practice appears to be a good one.

Cinco de Mayo!!

That's the date of our 1st OB appt for our "blinking peanut" as the lady at the front desk of my new OB-GYN's office said while on the phone yesterday.

May 5th.

I will be 8 weeks and 5 days if I'm calculating this pregnancy correctly. That makes me feel good b/c I will be further along then when I went to the doctor with my last pregnancy and measured only 6 weeks 5 days.

Feeling good. FEELING GOOD!

Digital is More Clear

I took a digital test on Saturday since I was officially 7 days late and sure enough the answer was clear - PREGNANT!

I'm feeling good about this pregnancy this time around. I will be calling this week to get an appointment with the doc.
Mom has already told her close friends and everyone is excited. I told my cousin Melissa yesterday and my sisters Clair & Maria today via email. Dad wanted me to wait to spread the news until we're out of the 1st trimester, but it's important to me that family knows what is going on.
Yay for babies!

2 Days Late

I'm officially late. I was supposed to get my visitor friend on Saturday - day 28. I'm on day 30 now.

During my visit to Charlotte this past weekend, I chose to tell everyone I came into contact with. I hesitantly stated that although I took a test early on, it gave me a + sign and that I would feel more confident in the positive result later this week when I was officially late. I can't hide this - I am a drinker in case you haven't picked up on that. And when I'm with friends, I don't typically turn down drinks. So I enjoy O'Douls and water over the weekend and was the designated driver for the night on Saturday.

Mom knows and so does Dad, who I assume told Katherine. I would prefer tell Clair & Maria myself. I want to tell my cousin Melissa too, as she was there for me during my miscarriage and I want her to know - even if it's so early on. Family will be visiting from NY in April, so again, we will be telling them early just as we did with the last pregnancy.

It seems to be the same series of events as with the last pregnancy...a trip to Charlotte, a visit with my family - but this time no cramping and I am optimistic that I will get past 7 weeks, get past 12 weeks and make it to a full 40+ weeks with this pregnancy and deliver a beautiful HEALTHY baby boy or girl who shall carry the last name Baum.

Oh how fun!

April Fool's?

Today is April Fool's Day. My mom ALWAYS tries to pull one over on me, as do I on her if i can come up with something clever. So when I texted her the below picture this AM, she called me immediately and said this better not be an april fool's joke.

I told Steve last night that I was going to test this morning. Since I'm heading to Charlotte for the weekend, visiting friends I haven't seen in a while, and typically, well always really, there is an opportunity to consume alcohol, I wanted to be sure I wasn't pregnant. With the test confirming I wasn't pregnant, I was going to partake in the fun of alcohol consumption (even though, yes, i know, i shouldn't really even be drinking while trying to conceive). But instead, it looks like I'll be sticking with the non-alcoholic kind of beverages!

Faint POSITIVE Sign

I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms like I did last time. But tomorrow is day 28 from my last period so technically i'm not late just yet. SO here I go again. And i think by next week if there is still no period, I'll feel more confident in this positive pregnancy test!

Is this really for real???
