Steve found this "Family Rules" canvas in TJ Maxx to hang in the nursery. I thought of adding some ribbon and Steve thought of the idea to buy a knob, paint it white and screw it into the wall. Steve assembled everything and up on the wall it went - and I LOVE it. It's been SO LONG since I've blogged that now our nursery is complete. Once we have everything put away, I will post some pictures!

Brunch & a Baby Celebration (Shower #3)
| Tiffany, Tara, me and Tracy (Bumpdate - 34 Weeks) |
Yesterday 3 of my old co-workers and I met in Greensboro for brunch and a mini baby shower. It's become tradition since Tiffany was the 1st in the group to get knocked up. It always such a treat to get together with these girls. Time always flies and we need to plan a weekend away at some point to give us more time to catch up and share fun stories. We met at 12 noon and didn't part ways until 5pm!
Love you girls - can't wait to put all the fun gifts to use that you gave BGB - this includes the alcohol test strips for breast milk. Yes - something like that exists and my girl Tara was looking out for me. No need to pump and dump if the milk is not toxic to the baby!

Baby Shower #2
My BIG baby shower was yesterday - there were about 30 people there and it was held at my house. Good plan I must say b/c all we had to do was haul all of the gifts upstairs into the nursery instead of loading them into a car (or 2) and getting them back to our house.
I'm blessed to have such great family and friends to help me and Steve prep for BGB. One thing is for sure, she will be dressed well! We received a lot of clothes for this little one!
Here are some pics from the day:

30 Weeks, 6 Days
I know, I know - I'm a slacker. I have a lot of updating to do on this here blog...but for now, I'll update you with the doc appt. we had today. Since my last appt. where I had a 28 week ultrasound and glucose test (which I failed), I was diagnosed with a low-level case of gestational diabetes after taking the 3-hour glucose test. I've attended a gestational diabetes nutritional education class and met with a dietitian. I've taken control of the gestational diabetes by drastically altering my diet and testing my blood sugar 4 times per day.
Today's appt. consisted of the usual measuring of the belly & heartbeat check. I swear the doc said I was measuring at 34 weeks (I'll be 31 weeks tomorrow), but then he said something about 32 weeks and I just don't know how big I'm measuring to be honest - but I DO know it's a little big but nothing to be concerned about. Heartbeat sounded good and BGB is currently head down. Would be awesome if she stays that way, but we have 8 weeks to go, so I'm doubtful she will. This girl is a serious mover.
We talked gestational diabetes and the doc looked over my glucose levels that I've been tracking. He said I was doing great, not to be worried - that I've got a handle on things and my levels were probably better than his. The doc said I "just barely" have gestational diabetes. My levels weren't so high that they feel I need to do anything different than the changes I've implemented with my diet and if I want to cheat every now and again, that is okay! So a piece of cake (like at my shower) won't be bad to indulge in! There is no concern that this will effect the baby and there is no reason, at this time, to think we will deliver (by induction) any sooner than 39 weeks (which is December 3rd). Of course BGB may have other plans - who knows.
More b/c of my factor V disorder and less b/c of gestational diabetes, I will have 2 more ultrasounds...maybe a 3rd at 39 weeks, depending on how the baby is measuring at the next 2. The 3rd would be to determine if there is a need to schedule a c-section - if the baby measures over 9.5 lbs. Let's pray she stays at a healthy weight where she doesn't have to be delivered via c-section.
My next appt. is scheduled for October 20th where we will have another ultrasound to check growth and get to see baby girl and then meet for the normal appt. stuff.
I really like this doctor we saw today - we've seen him twice now and will see him again at the next appt. He's the same doc that I mentioned before who jokingly said if you eat more, you gain weight. And speaking of weight, I think I dropped a few pounds, but that is simply b/c of my diet change and nothing to be worried about.
On a side note - last night was my official 1st night of restless sleep. I was having hip and groin pain and was waking up just about every hour to shift position. I am headed to babies r us after work to buy this so my belly can have some support. And I think I will put this body pillow I have to better use, instead of it sitting at the foot of the bed for the kitties to sleep on!

Shower #1 for BGB
My mom and her good friend Jane hosted a shower for me and BGB at mom's house and it was wonderful! It was mostly friends from mom's church, a few outside of church and some neighbors and they really blessed us with our 1st set of gifts for BGB. My wedding photographer even came, so I just HAD to pass along my "professional" camera to her so she could help document the party. My camera is a Nikon though and she works with Cannon, so she had to do some fiddling to get it to work the way she wanted. Here are some pics from the party (taken by Melanie and others):
